Test comic pages of RMF!

I finally decided that Imago and RMF will be mostly in b/w, manga-like style. I have an anime-ish style anyway. There will be only a few colored pages at the start of each chapter/issue. Why did I settle on b/w? At first, I wanted to make the whole comic colored. Like, why not? Readers would see the characters' colors, and since my characters all look pretty similar (bruh), it would be easier to recognize them. But I'm not sure I'll be able to handle that much work. Also, the line art style will be simple. I heard advice from professionals that it's better to start with b/w comics because it's easier for a beginner comic artist, so I'll follow that advice. Maybe if everything goes well, I'll make some chapters/issues of RMF fully colored.

I often fantasize about how various scenes would look. When I write drafts for the comic's scenario, I always imagine how the panels might look. Or even imagine them as a movie (っ˘ω˘ς )

Here are the test pages! It's one of the scene drafts for RMF. A little sketchy, I just wanted to try out the pen in this b/w style.

Not sure about this screentone yet… It looks weird on mobile devices, like there are some circles over it? I don't know??? But it's just because the dots are very, very small. I guess many manga readers are used to seeing a slight dot texture instead of such "circles", but that's probably because they've seen pages in lower quality… Anyway, I won't make the screentone dots bigger because I wanted this dot texture, and I think it might look better if I save the images as jpeg. Alright, I'll figure it out when I start uploading to the comic publishing site ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧ I'm going to publish on ComicFury, by the way.

Ugh— I suck at drawing good mini-comics about my characters' daily lives. Every time I try, it ends up like this... Nothing funny or even heart-warming, just angst and shit. And half of it wouldn't make sense without context. So here's the context:

This is Gimbal's memory of Sim (I won't say why he remembered this or why he made that sad face at the end, because that'd be a spoiler). As you can see, their relationship was pretty strained for "best friends". Sim often felt hurt by Gimbal's attitude. He felt like Gimbal didn't give him enough attention or emotional support. But Gimbal actually has low emotional intelligence (for his PAK ID), which makes it hard for him to express emotions and empathize. He never had any bad intentions toward Sim, he just doesn't know how to help him. But it annoyed Sim a lot, especially when he was pouring his heart out and got met with misunderstanding and indifference from his own friend. Sim still stuck with Gimbal just because they'd known each other for so long, even though that offense was the only, but noticeable, stain on their friendship. Gimbal always thought "He'll freak out and come back anyway" — but one day, he won't come back.

So yeah, RMF isn't just about global Irknet problems, it's also about the complexity of personal relationships. Don't forget to check out the Info page, since I'll be talking a lot about my IZ fan-comic projects! And I already added a page for Gimbal!

New RMF and Imago characters are coming soon, I've had a sudden creative burst and I'm gonna draw as many character concepts as I can. They've existed as concepts for a while, but I only started drawing them a year later… That's just my level of procrastination (------___------) For now, though, I kinda feel like I have more free time for my socially worthless niche hobbies.
